Core Value Spotlight: Enrich Lives

At Enovation Controls, we strive to live out our company’s core values. Often called a “lifeboat”, our core values heavily influence our company culture, every day decision-making and help catalyze the success of the company.

One of our core values, “Enrich Lives to Unleash Potential,” is found in action under the bridge on North Maybelle. With help from the City Lights Foundation of Oklahoma, Enovation Controls employees have built relationships, served food and provided clothing for Tulsa’s homeless community at an event called Night Light Tulsa.

Night Light Tulsa began in 2013 and has occurred every Thursday evening since its start. At this event, people in the homeless and inner city community receive a cooked meal, essential items, haircuts and are provided with the opportunity to have their feet washed. Through their service, Night Light works to provide hope and build community for the homeless. Roughly 11,000 people are served every year from Night Light’s efforts, and the numbers continue to grow.

In October 2019, Supplier Quality Engineer Mike Hobbs volunteered for the first time with Enovation Controls at Night Light Tulsa. Immediately after his first night of volunteering, he reached out to Night Light Director Sarah Grounds to see how he could be of more help. As a barbecue competition judge and competitor, he wanted to take his passion for cooking and use it to further bless others. Before he knew it, he was under the bridge again in December – but this time, he was doing the cooking.

The Saturday before the event, with help from several Enovation Controls employees, Hobbs smoked 489 pounds of meat at his home, to prep for the Night Light Christmas meal (this yielded 320 pounds of meat to serve). As a result, nearly 700 people were fed with the support of hundreds of volunteers from all over Tulsa.

“To be able to orchestrate and cook an event like this is a true passion of mine,” Hobbs said. “I wanted to pay it forward and share it because creating smiles through this passion is a true blessing. I want people to feel comfortable whether it is in my home or under the bridge.”

Hobbs is just one example of someone who lives out our core values in and out of the office. The ability to enrich lives has become a driving force for our employees, and it is something we aim to pursue at work, in our personal lives and in our communities every day.

ENRICH LIVES TO UNLEASH POTENTIAL: “We strive to laugh often and find meaning in our individual and collective efforts. We attract, develop and recognize exceptional people and inspire them to be their best at home, at work and in their communities.”
