ES2F/PV450 Fuel Rate and Total Fuel Used

Post by T Takehara » Wed Mar 28, 2012 12:01 am

Dear Sir or Madam,

My customer has a plan to use the ES2F sender with the PV450 and would like to add the Fuel Level, Fuel Rate and Total Fuel Used parameters into display using the PowerVision Configuration Studio software. I could set up the Fuel Level parameter refering this post (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=434&p=1136&hilit=ES ... V450#p1115). However, I am not sure how to configure the program to display the Fuel Rate and Total Fuel Used parameters in the case of using the ES2F sender because I am not familiar with programming.

So, this is my question;
How do I configure the program to show the Fuel Rate and Total Fuel Used parameters in the PV450 in the case of using the ES2F sender? It would be very helpful if you have a sample Configuration or script.

Your kind attention to the above would be much appreciated.

Best regards,

Hello Toshiki,

You could try to calculate fuel rate and total fuel used using fuel level and the tank's dimensions but the result will not be very accurate.

It would be better to get those parameters from the ECU, or a flow sensor, at least fuel rate.

Hello ksaenz,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I will try to configure to get these parameters from ECU.

Hello ksaenz,

I configured the analog input for PV450 to use with ES2F fuel sender and uploaded this data to the display. My customer evaluated the fuel level indicator on that PV450, but they said to me the fuel gage indicated "Full" though the fuel level was still halfway through the tank. I guessed the raw analog input I entered was not correct (239 : 100 % and 746 : 0 %), so I revised the table in the script as the attached configuration data.

Could you please confirm if the attached can be worked and can indicate the fuel level properly in the case of using ES2F sender?

Your kind support would be much appreciated.

Best regards,

Toshiki Takehara

Hello T Takehara,

The table in the configuration you attached matches my example.

Which table did you use before?

Hello Ksaenz,

Thank you for confirming.
I used the table which is attached in the following post (Analog Input Fuel Level.db3).

(viewtopic.php?f=7&t=434&p=1136&hilit=ES2F+Fuel+Level+PV450#p1115)

Dear Ksaenz,

My customer uploaded the configuration data which I attached on this post before (based on your example table) to the PV450 and confirmed the movement of fuel level gage comparing with the PV101. They then found that these displays indicated a different fuel level respectively such as below.

PV450... Fuel Level : 13%
PV101... Fuel Level : 17%

This is a little bit error and my customer scarcely mind this different, but they would like to clarify why such a difference arises. So, the followings are my question.

1) Is there a different fuel analog input between PV450 and PV101?

2) Could you please let us know the raw analog input table for the PV101?

Your kind attention to the above would be much appreciated.

T Takehara,

The PV101 and PV450 are calibrated for the same fuel level sender (Murphy ES2F).
The fuel level sender signal is not linear.
The calculated fuel level value is an approximation obtained by interpolating between two given points.
The PV101 uses 5 points to calculate fuel level.
The PV450 uses 11 points to calculate fuel level and you can add more points if you want.
You can find more information about the PV101 fuel level calibration in the literature section of the PV101 page in our website. Here is a direct link:
