Our customer asked me to confirm the following items.

PV750 is connected with an engine ECU on a test bench and they are checking DM2 function. DM2 is displayed correctly when error codes are stored, but "TIMEOUT" is displayed when any error codes are not stored. They would like to display "No Stored Code" in the situation.

Question
1. Please advise me what condition make "No Stored Code" visible in DM2 requesting. Does PV750 need to receive "04FFFF...." code from all devices set in PowerVision?

2. If the above question is yes, any devices which are not compliant with DM2 function cannot be connected (used). Is it correct?

3. As one of the reasons for the behavior, Global Request "00EAFF" is broadcasted with Specific Request set in PowerVision in DM2 requesting. Is it correct?

4. Can I eliminate the Global Request "00EAFF"? In this case, "TIMEOUT" is not displayed if PV750 can receive a message from only device requested.

Hello tshiii,

You can disable the global DM2 request from the J1939 Port Manager Device Configuration Settings in the Environment Setup section under the Applications folder but this is not enough to prevent the "TIMEOUT" message.

The "TIMEOUT" message will still appear if the PV750 sends a request and doesn't receive a valid response.

You can change the "TIMEOUT" text from the Diagnostic Messages DM2 Setup in the Environment Setup section under the Applications folder. Notice that there are 3 places to change the text: in Screen Labels, Popup Labels, and Status Labels.
