import failed of pv750Portrait in PowerVision 2.6

Post by young123 » Fri Jan 17, 2014 3:31 am

Until now we have used the pv750 display using a configuration for a Portrait version.
I tried to import this configuration so that the same can be used on a pv780.
This import was tried on PowerVision 2.6.20023.
This import failed.

I tried this also with your example file "MSTD (PV750P) 2.3.10002 Beta.murphyConfig".
This also fails.
Although the configuration file was copied (by powervision) to the location ..\Documents\Murphy Configurations\Version 2.6\DBs. But this file would not be listed in the Configurations view.
After pressing the view button you will get a blank configuration shown.

After this I modified this configuration in powervision 2.3.20007 from pv750 portrait to pv750 10 key.
Then I import this file into powervision 2.6.
After import the file is listed in the configuration, but it says that the config is blank !
So only after close and open again of the config file, it will show the imported configuration.
It then is also possible to create a build file.

I tried the same with our configuration file.
Only it failed to build in powervision 2.6 and there were a lot of errors shown.

Do you have any idea how to solve this ?

Hello Young123,
I've written a bug that we are not able to upgrade Portrait configurations in PowerVision Version 2.6.2xxxx software platform.
I have retraced your steps using PV 2.3.20007 and 'Murphy Standard Configuration (PV750P) 2.3.murphyConfig' file as follows:
1) Using PowerVision 2.3.20007 and loading 'Murphy Standard Configuration (PV750P) 2.3.murphyConfig'
2) Used Tools-> 'Create Full Install ...' to build a Full install image.
3) Used Tools-> 'Load Full Install ...' to load the image.
Note: The Load works on PV750P display but the boot loader is still 2.3.10118 instead of 2.3.2xxxx. PV2.6 will not load without a 2.3.2xxxx version of the boot loader. I tried to use the "Field Upgrade Utility" to upgrade the Boot loader to 2.3.2xxxx but the PV750 display option is not available so this tool will not update the Boot Loader on a PV750 or PV750P Portrait display.
4) Saved configuration as 'MSTD_PV750P_2_3_NowHV700-10key.murphyConfig and copied it to "...\Murphy Configurations\Version 2.6\DBs\" directory. The HV700 (10-key) is common between 2.3 and 2.6 while PV750 and PV780 are not.
5) Started PV2.6.20023 and did a full build then tried to load to the PV750P with this image. PowerVision rejected the load because the boot loader was before 2.3.20000 version.
6) Changed configuration to PV780 (10-key) and loaded it on a PV780 display. It works, but the labels are incorrectly aligned with the bezel keys. Not all bezel button functions transferred.
At this time, Murphy does not have a Portrait replacement display which is supported in PowerVision 2.6 or later versions so you may have to remain at PowerVision 2.3.1xxxxx versions to have continued support for Portrait displays. I will continue to check about their plans for Portrait displays in later versions of PowerVision.
Thanks,

Hi Phil,

Thanks for your reply.
However I fail to go beyond step 4.
I am not able to open the configuration, saved and copied under .4, in version 2.6.20023.

My actual requirement is this:

How to migrate a configuration of a pv750p made in powervision 2.3 to either 2.6/2.7 for use on a pv780 ?
Until now I fail to do this.
Can you explain me what steps are required ?
I could start from scratch on the pv780, but if this is not needed then please tell me how !

Thanks,

hendrik
