Help set up Transducer

Post by Guy » Wed Jul 09, 2014 9:32 am

Hi
I would like help to attach an LEM currrent transducer to a PV450. It uses Can2.0a so I need to write the message parameters into the Powervision library., to get the data and the start/stop TX working.
I am using the latest software 2.7.1 and the transducer is http://www.lem.com/docs/products/cab%20300-c%20sp2.pdf.
I hope there is someone who can make sense of it :?
thanks

Hi Guy,

You will need to use Free Form Numeric Messages found on the Connections tab, you will need two messages.
It looks to me that the Message Type will be Extended Frame Receive.
Frame ID = 3C2 or 6F0
Data Length = 8
Variable Packing should match up with the LEM spec columns for Start Bit and End Bit. You can use the Message Visualization in the bottom ribbon to compare with the spec.

You may use the Auto Create on the Connections tab to create the Variables or you can create the variables on the Programming tab and select them from the dropdown list on the Connections tab. Either way these will be the variables you use for your logic or display.

Is that more information than you need? You may need to make changes to the Frame ID when you get more information, hopefully you will have a way to log the CAN traffic to analyze what the current transducer is transmitting.

Let us know how you do.
