Non-linear Gauge

Post by mwalker » Tue Sep 14, 2010 6:13 am

I have been asked if it is possible to implement a Non-uniform Gauge? eg for km/h the customer wants to have major intervals of 10km/hr for part of the range, and major intervals of 5 km/hr for the end part of the gauge.

you describe it as non-linear, but in the post you say it’s a smaller scale for part of the gauge then a larger scale for the other part. Is it linear within those regions?

All of our "canned" gauges are linear currently, but you can do almost anything you want if you're willing to create a bitmap of a gauge with the desired scale. Then you create a calculated variable that's calculated periodically. I know I've done piecewise-linear functions in a calculated variable. You also have LOG and LN functions available in calculations.

If you're wanting two different sections of a gauge that are both linear, then I think I need to know a little more about what it should look like. Any chance of drawing me a picture?
