DM1 automatic refresh?

Post by verschuren » Thu Jan 21, 2016 8:38 am

Hi,

I an issue with DTC's on the DM1 page. When they become active they appear right away. When they get solved they don't disappear and move to DM2. It seems like that happens after a power cycle. Is that correct and could I change that? I need it to update right away and move the solved DTC to the DM2 page.

Please advise on how to do this.

Thanks! Mario

Hello verschuren,

Are you getting the DM1s from the engine ECU or some other device on the CAN? or are these "internal" DM1s?

A DM1 must be acknowledged (a button press, usually). Different configurations handle this differently, some will acknowledge all faults with one button press others require a button press for each individual fault. I think the Murphy standards require each fault to be acknowledged.

With J1939 engines and devices, a request is sent to the engine ECU for the previously active faults, the DM2s. The control of when a cleared fault shows up as a DM2 is controlled by the device with the fault.

The J1939-73, Application Layer-Diagnostics specification describes the DM1, DM2 and all other diagnostic messages.

Hi Sara,

The data stream comes from an engine ecu. When we check it with the engine manufacturer scanning tool, the fault clear right away after fixing the problem. With CAN Capture we see in the DM1 display that the fault disappears as well. Only the PV480 doesn't update the list and the fault persist in DM1 instead of going to DM2.

Any thoughts?

Hi,

In the Murphy standard configurations, on the DM1 popup view, there should be an icon and Hide text. By pressing the button next to it, the DM1AcknoweldgeCurrent action will be fired. Then, about one second after the Engine ECU quits transmitting the fault that fault should go away or change to the next fault in the list.

In your particular configuration, you should be able to search for the Diagnostic Messages Action, DM1AcknowledgeCurrent or DM1AcknowldgeAll, to find the event where the action is invoked.
