How does one acquire the 2.1 loader?

Loaders are not something we plan to post for general download. This honestly is for support reasons, and the 2.0 loader works with the 2.1 release. There is a danger that if you lose power to the unit while the loader is loading, you can "brick" the unit - i.e., have to send it back to Murphy to be reprogrammed which is not very pleasant. For that reason, we want to make sure that we hand it out carefully to people so we can reinforce this understanding.

Now with that said, all newly built PV750s will be programmed with the 2.1 Loader (there may still be some shipped for a short period of time from inventory that have 2.0 already loaded).

What's in the 2.1 Loader:
There is an enhancement with the 2.1 Loader that is very nice for development. The 2.1 Loader gives you the ability to name a file with the following format

update*.tar.gz
where * is the general wildcard character.

For example:
update-full.tar.gz (this is the name actually created by the 2.1 tool when you build using "Full")
updateMyFile.tar.gz
update_20100909_ConfigUpdate.tar.gz

As long as a file is named with this convention, the 2.1 Loader will recognize it and list it as an option on the screen. This allows you to keep multiple loads on a stick and pick which you want loaded without having to rename the file to update.tar.gz like you do with the 2.0 Loader.
