PV380 Protected 5V Output

Post by cconner_aie » Thu Aug 04, 2016 12:39 pm

One of our customers would like to add analog throttle (1.1V-4.2V for APS1 and 0.55V-2.1V for APS2) to their PV380 and broadcast that over TSC1. I've just finished modifying the standard PV380 config to include the analog throttle as an option but I need 5V to interface with the throttle lever.

This is fine on the PV380 R1 as it provides a Protected 5V output:

However on the PV380 R2 it looks like this has been removed and replaced with another digital output:

Will the R1 be phased out and replaced by the R2, or will they be able to order the R1 for the foreseeable future?

Hello cconner_aie,

The PV380.R2 will be replacing the PV380. That is about all I know. I would recommend talking to your Enovation Controls representative to get an estimate as to how much longer the PV380s will be available.

I'm not sure if the PV380 literature states that the 0-5V output is much like a digital output in that the output is not variable, it is either 0 or 5V. I'm not sure what your customer's needs are related to the throttle, hopefully it is suited to a 0-5V digital output.

The 5V is needed as the supply voltage for the throttle position lever so constant 5V is fine.

Can you clarify, are you referring to the the PV380.R1 or PV380.R2? the outputs on the PV380.R2 are low side switching so the PV380.R2 won't have any way to provide 5V correct?

If that's the case we'll need to incorporate a voltage regulator for the throttle they are using.

Right, so the 0-5V protected output on the PV380 is a constant voltage. Some have tried to use it as a variable output, so I just wanted to be sure you were needing the constant output.

The PV380.R2 does not have the 0-5V protected output. PV380.R2 has the two switched low side outputs.

Thank you,

Good to know, we'll make sure to make accommodations for this then.
