Address Claiming Issue/Question

Post by AeonClock » Thu Feb 06, 2014 11:26 am

Hardware Info:
Display: PV350
Bootloader: 2.7.10112.0
PV Config Studio: 2.6 or 2.7

I'm currently trying to make a configuration where multiple displays claim the same address. To take care of conflicting messages I have my configuration set up so that only one display will broadcast messages at any given time.

At the moment when I try to restrict the displays to a single address I get a "[ACL] Cannot Claim Address" error and then both displays stop broadcasting messages.

However, I can get it to work the way I need it to if I do the following:
1) Turn on one display and let it claim an address.
2) Remove it from the bus (but still keep it powered), turn on a second display, and let it claim the same address.
3) Add the first display back to the bus.

This setup above works, but it's not possible or practical to do this out in the field. I would like to be able to do something similar through software. Is there any way to do this?

Thanks and regards.

This may be late, but there is Address Claim Arbitration so the same configuration can be used on both displays, but when the displays powers up they will take different addresses.

You will need some digital input or analog input to distinguish which display is in which position, because address claim arbitration is based on who powers up first as to who gets an address.

I've enclosed the common configuration I used, along with some photos of the address claim results. I've included some pictures of PowerVision pages which I think are relevant.
Thanks,
Phil

I know about address arbitration. I was wondering if there was a way to make both displays have the same address. From everything I've read and tried it sounds/seems like there isn't any way to do that.
