Is it possible to restrict the DM1 overlay from showing on screens like "System Settings" ?

I also have a few system screens where not having the alert icon showing after hitting the "Hide" function would be preferable.

Sure. Just add a state to the DM1 state machine that is entered when you go to the screens that you do not want the DM1 popup to happen. The state just does nothing, so the functions do not process. Make sure to make it exit back out of that state on exiting those pages and have it check for DM1s.

You can do something similar to the alert icon for pages you do not want it.
