Post by boyce » Thu Nov 07, 2013 3:35 pm

A beta group will soon be open for PowerVision 2.7 that will allow access to the latest software and documentation. Below you will find a brief overview of PowerVision 2.7 as well as information to consider before joining the beta. Most of the features have come from you as requests which we track and work on with each release. If you wish to be a part of the 2.7 Beta Group please send me a PM and I will make sure you are included in the group when it’s launched.

PowerVision 2.7

PowerVision 2.7 is the next public version of the PowerVision Platform and is the direct upgrade from PowerVision 2.6. Here are just some of the features in PowerVision 2.7. More details will be included in the beta and final releases.
  • • Improvements to support larger more complex configurations via compressed data files for the embedded configuration and improved complex actions.
    • Improvements to Page Designer. Simplified and new Widget/Gauge types.
    • Support for high performance screen animation on color displays with no scripting.
    • Better Debugging Support

    • Experimental support for a new programming Language called Activity Programming. This language is designed to be more approachable for new users to allow them to interact with more advanced feautres without learning C++ style test languages. In addition, this language is supported on the monocrome displays allow you to build complex structured programs without the weight of scripting.
Beta Considerations
  • • PowerVision 2.7 Beta is for testing purposes only. It has been fully tested internally but small changes are ongoing. As such there may be small problems that you will encounter. Please let us know when you see them and we will correct them as quickly as we can.
    • We will make every attempt to ensure that configuration built with the Beta upgrade to the final release. In rare events there may be an issue that prevents this but it’s very unlikely.
    • We ask that you test the release and submit any issues you see in the beta forum. We will respond and fix things as quickly as we can.
We look forward to getting PowerVision 2.7 into the hands of our users and hope you will be pleased to see the changes that you helped us build.
