Configuration download to PV450

Post by murphypj » Tue Dec 05, 2017 6:22 pm

It has been a while since I have been on this forum, and I apologize if this has been answered in other posts, but since it appears that a considerable number of new features have been added that greatly would have removed some headaches back on the last project I was using the PV450 on, I thought I would inquire about features that were definitely not available back then and were not on the development timeline.

The two areas of concern both relate to SW download to the PV450.
I know you can download a configuration built through PV Studio and loaded onto a USB thumb stick via a manual process on the PV450 itself.
I also know that you can download a configuration via a USB to Ethernet to USB connection to a host computer running the PowerVision Studio.

The two things that I would be interested in knowing if they are now available, or are on any short/long term development plan would be:
1) Can the configuration be loaded programmatically without the use of the PowerVision Studio?
a) via the CAN bus
b) via an Ethernet to USB connection to the PV450

2) Are there any plans regarding system security that would only allow software download after some method of authentication. And if so, would that authentication be applied to download via USB, PV Studio over USB-Ethernet-USB, or the above requested programmatic download?

The two inquiries come from a desire to have a single entry point for download (don't have to plug in/remove a USB stick to/from every unit in the solution), and a heavy flow down of cyber security requirements. In particular here would be the unauthorized modification of the PV450 configuration by a malicious source.

I really appreciate your time in looking at this, and again apologize if this has already been answered, or is in the wrong forum category.

Thanks again.
