PV750 Configuration Issues

Post by natem » Wed Nov 23, 2011 10:46 am

Hello -

We are having issues with a PV750 configuration. The application is two PV750s on boat (identical configs), monitoring almost everything. Engines, transmissions, gearboxes, generators, pumps, and everything else.

Some of devices do not use the J1939 standard and are brought in using the XM500. When the configuration was created (by Murphy) the alarms for the devices were all brought in using one state machine and one SPN. So whenever any of the alarms are triggered, it brings up a generic error pop-up.

We'd like to change that so each device has it's own alarm. I think that would entail creating new SPNs and DTCs, but my limited knowledge of PowerVision has me scratching my head.

Before I get started on it, I'd like to make certain I have the right idea. I've attached the configuration in question. The devices in question are on CAN Port 1 and 2. They are the "Port 3268 Device", "Port 3269 Device", "Stbd 3268 Device", and "Stbd 3269 Device"

Can anybody help me on this? BTW, it's a 2.2 config file. I'd like to keep from converting it to 2.3 if at all possible.

Thanks!

Natem,

I passed this on to Matt in IPD.

Basically it would be best if each alarm had its own SPN, that way you can use the exist DM1 system to generate alarms.

Alternatively you can create angelscript code that processes the DM1 and generates or causes text messages to be displayed based on what is in the DM1 message. This would be where the code would parse the details of the message to determine the type of failure.

I think changing the XM500 would be a better solution.

Hope this helps,

The best way to do this is the way I did. I had Murphy write the alarm functions into the XM500 and it transmits the DM1 messages (actually it stores DM2 info, also). This drastically simplifies the PV750 software.

I'd like to know what solution is determined. I'm currently writing a Marine 2.3 config with a 2nd PV750 display for 2 engines with XM500 info and video.
