Is there any way of showing the value of a timer that is on a transition?

Well, not directly anyway. If you're looking for something like a count-down timer, let's say for 10 seconds, set up a state with a transition on a 1 second timer. With that you should be able to increment a counter that can display on the screen. You would check with each transition to see if the counter is equal to 10 at which point you would quit.
