Programming the analog output on MPC-20

Post by jajorgenson » Tue Jul 29, 2014 9:55 pm

I am trying to control proportional valves (flow and pressure) with a solenoid driver, and would like to use the MPC-20 to control the solenoid drivers. My intent would be to use the analog output and the high side FETs to create a pulse with modulation for the solenoid drivers, but I am unable to program the analog output.

What are the steps to program the analog output and the FET outputs for the MPC-20?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Joel,

What you have described May be outside of the capabilities of the MPC-20. Within a very limited set of parameters, it might work.

You should be able to add the analog output under the connection tab and assign a variable to the analog output, this should work as long as you aren't using the analog output as a throttle control. The variable will be what you need to set through programming.

The digital outputs (FETs) are controlled like any other digital output on the low cost platform using powervision. Again, you will have to make sure that the outputs are not in use already.

All of that being said, the PWM frequency that you are trying to emulate must be pretty low, because we only update these outputs about every 125 mS. So there may be other issues you will need to consider.
