help for newbie?

Post by drphil69 » Fri Mar 18, 2011 11:33 am

Hello,

I am new to programming on this platform. I have read all the documentation and downloaded and studied programs from this forum. I am having a difficult time putting everything together though and I want to know if there is a comprehensive guide to programming, or if programming in the PV2.2 environment is similar to another type of programming. (My limited programming experience is in Sauer-Danfoss Plus+1 Guide, and old script like Pascal/Fortran.)

e.g. Many of my applications require the operator to change settings. I tried writing an app so that holding down a key causes a variable to change rapidly, and I cannot figure out how to get it to work. It is unclear to me how to use the timers - and what actually happens when a timer runs out.

I have also found what I think is a bug, or I just don't understand the "full" vs. Partial "create." It seems like if I update a program and choose "full" then download, while it says "download successful" the program doesn't actually update. It also seems like I can't download a "full" package except on a USB stick (after renaming to remove the "-full"). (My PV750 is running bootloader 2.0.... is there a firmware update that will fix this?) Also found that if I accidentally write the app using PV450 platform then download to PV750, while it says "download successful" it does not (obviously) download the program.

Sorry for rambling... the PV750 is a really nice display and I want to get it to my customers ASAP.

Hi,

We were just scrubbing the forum to see if there were any unanswered questions / topics. I believe you got the answers to these questions earlier. Let us know if any of these are unanswered.

BTW. You can not update full configuration (full installs) on anything but a usb stick. It updates the OS and Application as well as the configuration, so the hardware needs to be in a safe state (i.e. the loader) when doing that kind of update.

Thanks,
