2.9.10437 OEM HTTP connection issues

Post by verschuren » Tue Mar 07, 2017 2:56 pm

Hi,

I just did update PowerVision from 2.810546 to 2.9.10437 OEM and I'm experiencing issues with connecting the display through the HTTP conduit. The PV480 display connects good with 2.8.10546 and to 2.9.10437 initially as well until I update the display with 2.9.10437. After the reboot I'm not able to connect anymore.

I did revert back to 2.8.10546 with the help of an USB stick. The HTTP connection works great again, until an update with 2.9.10437. It doesn't look like a hardware problem. I assume we can still use the same dongles as before. I have the Plugable dongles with the Asix AX88772 chipset.

The TCP connection never seems to work. Is it recommended to use this or is that only for the latest displays with the network connection build in? In that case it is annoying that I can't save the preferred connection type.

I hope someone can help me with this. Thanks!

Hello Mario,

At this time, we really recommend that if you have the current color displays based on the IMX hardware and monochrome displays that you do not migrate to the 2.9 version of PowerVision Configuration Studio.

As noted in the Usability and Feature Changes document, there are no new features in 2.9 for the current PV450, PV780, HV700, PV480, ...

The bug fixes for the current color and monochrome displays are being put into 2.8.

If you have some of the newer displays based on the M2 hardware, you will need the 2.9.

Hi Sara,

Thank you for your reply. I will stick with the older version then.

Too bad it doesn't work. There were a lot of things in the new version I liked.

You just need to buy some of the new displays ;-)

Hi!

I will mention this here for those who might want to use some of the PowerVision Configuration Studio features. Even though there are no feature changes for the IMX color displays that require a change to the 2.9, there are some enhancements in PowerVision Configuration Studio that are nice.

Or if you just want to help us work out some of the bugs... ;-)

The HTTP and TCP conduits will work between the 2.9 PowerVision Configuration Studio on a computer and a IMX based color display with a 2.9 configuration.

Be sure to do a full install on the display. You might actually start with the blank config, get it talking then put your custom config on the display.

You might power cycle and wait. Sometimes it seems like I wait longer than others.

Get the HTTP conduit working first, then try the TCP conduit. The new Remote tool that uses the TCP conduit is great for debugging, you can mouse click on the buttons to get the attached events to fire! If you have a touch screen, you can click on the screen to fire a touch event. Too cool!

Keep trying, if it was connecting successfully with 2.8, it will with 2.9 also.

Just remember this is a beta and the real focus was on the newer hardware.
