Highlighting in calculations

Post by mbowdich » Tue Jun 28, 2011 10:29 am

When highlighting in calculations, if you start the highlight with punctuation (such as quotation marks for a variable) it automatically highlights back to an including the previous punctuation mark. This makes it very inconvenient to replace variables in calculation events.

Example:

max("J1939.Engine.EngineSpeed",0)+5

If I want to select "J1939.Engine.EngineSpeed" to replace the variable, it does not allow it. I can start the selection at "J1939...", but it will automatically jump back and select the parenthesis. Additionally, the same thing occurs at the end of the selection; as soon as the quotation mark is selected, the following comma is automatically selected. It can be deselected by moving the cursor back across the quotation mark again, but the opening parenthesis remans selected. The only way I have found to erase this is to select the variable text inside the quotation marks, delete it, then delete the quotation marks separately.

Hello mbowdich,

I tried to reproduce the highlighting problem in calculations with both Windows 7 and XP. This problem seems to be only with XP. (I would like to know which OS you are currently using?).

However, You could use (Shift key + Arrow Keys) to highlight. That seems to be the easiest way to select. Please let me know if there is anything else i could help with.

Thanks,
